Jason Boyd

Jason Boyd has been working professionally making art with light for over 20 years. In that time, he has worked with many respected artists in Avant Garde Theater, Music, Dance, Fine Art, and Site Specific Work.

Jason Boyd began exploring the concept of illuminated oil paintings in the spring of 2008 after moving to the scenic mountains of upstate New York. Inspired by the surrounding nature, dramatic skies, and images of light reflecting on water or through space, he began experimenting with various light sources to backlight canvases. His non-traditional processes create a translucent canvas, experimenting with backlighting throughout the painting process to create his desired effects.

Each piece stands on its own as a painting without the lights, but throughout the day as the sun goes down the paintings transform,slowly revealing their inner glow.
